Tara Keely offers the bride options from a hint of sparkle on a signature jeweled belt to the refined grace of tiered lace. The Tara Keely collection combines glamour with an unmistakable twist of modern sophistication.

Meet Our Bride: Michelle

Can you believe it's the end of February already? Pretty soon winter will be over and we'll be getting into the busy wedding season. Until then, we're enjoying helping new brides find their dream dresses and seeing all the photos and stories coming in from our brides who are now married! Today, we're highlighting our bride Michelle who looked absolutely lovely on her wedding day:

Though I live in Boston, I'd heard nothing but wonderful things about Madeleine's Daughter and I decided it was worth the trip to New Hampshire to check them out. When I arrived, I was greeted by a warm and friendly staff and was surprised by the luxurious, private space to try on dresses. I felt like I was in a movie! I was a bit nervous to meet the consultant since the people I'd worked with at other stores left me feeling rushed and pressured to try dresses that didn't fit my style or budget. The consultant at Madeleine's was calm, patient, and immediately understood what I wanted. It didn't take her long to find a dress that was very close to what I'd envisioned and it was the right price, but it needed some alterations to be exactly what I wanted. Even though I knew I'd be making several trips to New Hampshire for the fittings, I enjoyed the store so much that I figured the journey would be a nice escape from the stress of all that was going on in my life at the time.

Working with my seamstress was a treat! She was a calming presence, had a fun sense of humor, and she graciously accommodated whoever decided to make the journey with me; she even came in once on her day off to accommodate some complications in my schedule! At the end of all of the alterations, I had a custom gown that was a perfect fit in every way! I felt beautiful on my wedding day and when people commented that my dress looked like it was made for me, they were right! It was well worth all of the driving and I would recommend Madeleine's Daughter to any bride for the very best selection, atmosphere, staff, and the most talented seamstresses on the planet!

Vintage Inspired Bridal

At least once a day we hear a bride tell us that something about her wedding is "vintage" inspired. It's an incredibly popular trend right now, but what exactly does that mean? "Vintage" encompasses a wide range of styles, silhouettes and details. Today on the blog, we're breaking it all down for you.

If your vintage-inspired wedding harkens back to the 1920-40's, then you're likely looking for a slim silhouette with intricate, delicate beadwork. Think of the flappers from the 20's, or the old hollywood glamour of the 40's- lush fabrics like silk charmeuse paired with elaborate beadwork make for stunning gowns that truly evoke that era. Designers and dresses that fit your aesthetic include:

Willow (pictured above), Eden, Aspen, Mimosa, Tuberose, Esme and lots of other gowns by Jenny Packham feature gorgeous beading and luxurious fabrication. Budget at least $4,000-$7,000 for this particular designer.

If Jenny Packham is a little out of your price range, consider gowns by Nicole Miller- many of her gowns have similar beadwork and are also inspired by the same era in terms of silhouette and style, but you can plan to spend a little less. Many of her gowns fall under $2,000 like this one pictured above- style HO0002.

If you love the slim silhouettes of the 20's, but want to incorporate more lace, consider Allure Bridal for sheaths like this one- style #8800. Similar looks include styles 8856 and 8764. All three of these styles retail for less than $1,500- an amazing price when you consider how well they deliver in detail and beadwork.

For other brides, "vintage" inspired could mean something from the 50's or 60's- a full skirt with a natural waist or something with very feminine details like lace, flowers or ruffles. Remember the wedding gowns of Jacqueline Kennedy or Grace Kelly? If that's the kind of "vintage" flair you're going for, consider these dresses and designers:

Christos designs have long been known for their impeccable couture fabrication and classic, romantic aesthetic as well as their heirloom quality. Obviously these qualities come at a price, so budget at least $5,000- $9,000 for a gown such as Primrose (pictured above).

For a budget more along the lines of $2,000-$4,000, consider Watters and WToo, especially Camilla(pictured above). The designs are beautifully embellished with lots of natural waist, full skirt options. There's even a tea-length wedding gown called "Arabesque" that perfectly evokes that 1950's feeling.

Finally, if you're hoping not to head over the $2,000 mark for your budget, there are still plenty of options including this beauty by Allure (style 8957). There's also an amazing Grace Kelly-esque gown by designer Pronovias called Dalia that falls below $2,000, but delivers on the drama and detail:

Dalia by Pronovias

Are there other "vintage" periods that you're inspired by? Is it making it harder or easier to find yoru gown and design your wedding? We'd love to hear about your experience creating a vintage-inspired wedding!

Meet Our Bride: Kelly

This week, in our amazing "Meet Our Bride" post, we'd like to introduce you to Kelly:

When I made my appointment with Madeline’s Daughter, I was excited and scared all at the same time. It was my first appointment looking for a wedding dress and I had no idea what I was even looking for or what to expect. During my appointment, my consultant was extremely helpful. She made me feel as though I was the only bride in the shop looking for my wedding dress. She listened as I described what I wanted and came back with a handful of dresses which were all so beautiful. I fell in love with the first dress I tried on, but she convinced me to try on more dresses so I didn’t settle. Throughout the hour appointment, I didn’t feel any pressure to purchase a dress that day. She was more interested in helping me find a dress that I loved and allowed me as much time as I needed deciding between two dresses. I finally ended up buying the first dress I tried on and I can’t thank Madeline’s Daughter enough for such a wonderful experience! It’s so easy to see why so many brides choose your shop for the most important day in their life!!

Meet Our Bride: Kaleigh

This week our featured bride is Kaleigh- she looked and felt great on her wedding day and we're so happy to have been a part of that!

When I got engaged there was no question where I would go to get my dress. Both of my sisters bought their dresses at Madeleine's Daughter and I saw first hand their lovely experiences. Mine was no exception. The sales staff is accommodating, a pleasure to work with, and so incredibly knowledgeable about their product. The process of picking my dress was so easy because they listened to my thoughts and ideas but also made great suggestions with consideration to my wants, style, and body type. It was a collaborative effort, and the dress I ended up with was one that I never expected to myself in, but it was so utterly perfect!

While the dress was great as is, there were a few unique changes I wanted done and the alterations department truly worked magic to make it happen. There was an open dialogue between myself and the seamstress, so I knew exactly what was being done to my dress and felt completely at ease leaving it in their hands. There were some pretty significant changes being made, and it can be a little nerve wracking to trust that it will all turn out ok, especially in this type of situation where there is already so much going on with planning your wedding, and you want to be certain that the most important element of the day (because let's face it, the dress is the highlight of the entire event) is going to be perfect. Well, mine was! They did a fantastic job! That day I felt like I was wearing something that was custom made just for me.

I could go on and on, I just have millions of great things to say about Madeline's daughter. When you go into a bridal shop and feel like you're the only bride in the world, you can't ask for a better experience than that. Your wedding, and the whole planning process that goes along with it is a special time in every girls life, and the staff at Madeleine's Daughter goes the extra mile to ensure that every one of their brides dress process is a highlight of that experience. I wouldn't just recommend Madeleine's, I would urge every bride to go there so they can see for themselves that it is the only place worth going to for dress shopping. And I have a mother, two sisters, and about ten other family members that would say the same thing!

Thank you for making my dress (not to mention my other incredible accessories) just as unique and as special as I am and my wedding was. I don't think it was possible for me to have felt more beautiful than I did and that is in many many thanks to you, your wide range on beautiful products, and your incredible staff!

Featured Bridal Vendor: MAC Photography

Finding the perfect wedding photographer is incredibly important, otherwise you could miss out on documenting all the amazing moments you'll have and share throughout the big day. Look for photographers who not only have years of experience, but who also understand the intricacies of photographing a wedding. And since the dress is the part we like to see the most, we want to make sure you have a photographer who will do it justice!

MAC Photography, located in Downtown Portsmouth NH, consists of a team of professional artists dedicated to preserving your wedding memories. They offer over ten years of professionalism combined with a unique blend of classic and modern photography. It is their goal to find that special difference with each and every client. They pride themselves in capturing the fine points of your day with style and elegance and their professional artistry is well known throughout the Seacoast for doing just that!

Here's what MAC has to say about their service:

There are three key elements that separate us from our competition! First is our digital enhancements. Digital imaging plays a hug role in photography, it is not only important to hire a great photographer but also someone who is well educated in the latest digital enhancing techniques. We offer digital enhancements free of charge, every single printed photograph whether it’s a wall portrait, wallet, or album page is retouched complimentary. Our standard enhancements include whitening and brightening of teeth, evening skin tones, and saturating colors but we can even go as far as changing blinking eyes, moving signs and cars, and make body parts slimmer.

Second is the way we photograph client’s wedding details and use them as textures and graphic elements within the wedding pictures and album pages. This look transforms wedding images into custom artwork.

And third is the amount of planning we do with clients to ensure the day goes smoothly. Approximately two months before the wedding we meet the couple at the reception site to scout out spots for pictures outside and inside in case it rains. It’s very important for us to establish an A & B plan before the wedding day. We complete a family formal questionnaire and create a wedding itinerary for the bridal party and wedding vendors. We started offering this service because we wanted to relief our couples of any stress on the wedding day.

Meet Our Bride: Emily

If you are reading our blog for the first time, you may not be aware that every single week, we post photos and the story of one of our brides. It's our favorite blog post to write because we love nothing more than hearing from our brides and being able to share how amazing they looked and felt on their weddng day. We also love to share what it was like for them coming into our shop to create their perfect bridal look. This week, we're so excited to introduce you to our amazing bride Emily.

My experience at Madeline’s Daughter was more then I could have hoped for, from start to finish I truly felt like I was a special bride and that my wedding day was just as important to the women that worked there as it was to me.  I did not feel like a just another cookie cutter bride, the woman took the time to get to know me and help me select all the right pieces for my unique wedding day.

When choosing my dress I loved having the private dressing room where my sisters could enjoy the experience with me while I tried on dresses without the pressure of ten other brides waiting to stand in front of the mirror.  I was thankful that I didn’t have to walk out to the public area if I didn’t want to, although when I did choose to go out to the larger mirror, I loved the excitement of the women around the alterations desk.  Juhree really took the time to listen to what I wanted, and helped me select what would look best for my body type.  I appreciated that she didn’t just pull the dresses that were currently “hot” or what everybody else was buying, she allowed the dress to be unique to me.

We also purchased my bridesmaids dresses and mother of the bride dress through Madeline’s Daughter.  Again, Juhree was so helpful in working with each of the women and their style and body type.  She knew the dresses so well, and what material would work with each dress.  Her expertise was invaluable to us!  Juhree was even able to help mediate a mother of the bride dress dispute between me and my mother, finding the perfect balance between our two wants. When everything was done, my bridesmaids and mother looked so beautiful on the big day and each bridesmaid felt unique and beautiful but everyone’s look complimented the overall feel of the wedding.

My final kudos needs to go to the alterations department, more specifically Renee and Cheryl.  They were so incredible, kind, thoughtful and organized.  The second the dress came in we booked all of my fittings to work with my schedule.  They worked backwards from the wedding date and helped me select a time frame that would work.  Everything worked like clockwork.  Cheryl, the seamstress was a miracle worker!  She took a dress that accentuated all the wrong areas, and made it a dress that fit my body and made me feel wonderful.  The day of my final fitting was the day that the whole process became very real to me; everything was falling into place perfectly (literally and figuratively!)
I would love to think it was just because I was lucky, but in truth it was all thanks to the expertise and women at Madeline’s Daughter.  They gently steered me on the path to bridal bliss.  Thank you ladies!  You made my experience very special to me!
