Procrastinating Patty

Congratulations!  You’re engaged and planning your dream wedding.  As much fun as it can be to plan a wedding, sometimes brides can get caught up in all the details that they lose track of time and don’t realize that it can take 6 to 8 months for a wedding gown to arrive. Add three months for alterations and suddenly they're stressed beyond belief! In other cases, there are those brides that decide to plan a wedding within 6 months and need a dress faster than usual because they're doing everything faster than usual!  Here are some options for those “Procrastinating Patty's” out there.

-          Buy a sample dress: We are continuously getting new dresses in for new seasons and upcoming trends. We have new Spring 2012 wedding gowns that we are able to sell directly out of our stock to you. No waiting for your dress to arrive, just cross it off the “To Do” list.  And when it comes to sizes available, while most of our samples tend to be 8, 10, and 12, there are quite few options for much smaller sizes as well as larger including plus sizes.

-          Rush order: Every designer is different, some will not allow “rush cuts” on every gown and some will only allow them during certain times of the year. There is an additional charge to have a dress “rushed” and every designer varies in the price for a rush cut. You may also consider rushing the alterations. While we typically prefer three months for alterations, for an additional fee, we'll complete the alterations in as little as two weeks.

-          Select designers have quick delivery times: Nicole Miller, Paloma Blanca, or Allure are a few designers that we can get in our shop a little faster than what is typical. This does not always mean that they won’t charge a rush fee in order to get it here in time, but they are a few designers that you have the potential to avoid a rush fee despite quick delivery.

-          Bridesmaid dress as your wedding gown: Just about every designer of bridesmaid dresses offers white or ivory as a color option. They vary in fabrics too, from chiffon to satin, taffeta to lace. You can get a really nice and inexpensive dress in just 3 to 4 months.

So now that you have a few options if you’re in a pinch, give us a call and set up an appointment with one of our fantastic consultants. We’ll help you find your perfect wedding day look no matter how soon your wedding might be!
