You've Found Your Dress, but What Will Your Groom Wear?

When it comes to planning the bridal party attire, most of the focus remains on the bride and her bridesmaids- picking the perfect silhouette, color, fabric, etc. And then when it comes to the groomsmen, it seems like all they get to do is try to match their vest and tie to the bridesmaid color. But what about the groom? Tux or suit, necktie or bowtie, cummerbund or vest- there are actually a LOT more choices and decisions than you could ever imagine. So now that yo've found YOUR bridal look, what will your groom wear?

And our sister store Soiree has everything you could possibly need! As a Madeleine's Daughter bride, your groom and his groomsmen are entitled to special prices and incentives, so be sure to mention where you got your dress when you call Aleigh, Soiree's store manager.

But I still haven't answered the question, have I? What IS your groom going to wear? Well, here are some of the hottest trends in men's wedding attire:

2012 TREND #1: COLOR
Brides and grooms alike seem to be up for a less traditional approach to the wedding in almost every way. From the invitations to the menu to the flowers to the ceremony, couples are truly expressing themselves through their choices. Another way they've chosen to do this is to forgo the traditional all-black tuxedo for unique color options like grey and midnight blue:

Twilight in Midnight Blue by Jean Yves

Perry Ellis Madison Espresso Two-Button Notch

Brown, grey and navy are all considered neutral colors and may work better with the palate of your wedding than black- flowers, bridesmaid dresses, even your dress might look better next to a tuxedo in a color like espresso brown or charcoal grey.

2012 TREND #2: SUITS
Is your wedding in a field or a barn? Maybe it's in your parent's backyard or some other less formal setting than a grand cathedral. In that case, maybe you don't even want a tux- maybe a suit is a better option for you. Well, your timing couldn't be better because that is another amazing trend happening right now!

Perry Ellis Windsor Latte Two-Button Dress Suit

ecko Black Chalk Stripe Two Button Notch Suit

Whether black, brown, grey, navy, tan or white, a suit can look just as nice as a tux and sometimes even nicer, depending on your venue. Keep an open mind and remember that your groom doesn't have to invest in the purchase of a new suit- at Soiree, he and his groomsmen can rent just like they would a tuxedo!

2012 TREND #3: COSTUME CHANGE!

We hear from a lot of grooms that it's unfair that their groomsmen wear a fun color and they get stuck in plain old white or ivory. That's when we tell them to make a change from the ceremony to the reception! A trend for brides these days is to make a "costume change" from the ceremony to the reception- either a change of accessories, or even into an entirely different dress! So why shouldn't the groom get the same special treatment? While the ceremony should remain appropriately serious or traditional in a white or ivory vest and tie combination, there's no reason why he can't have a brightly colored vest to complement his groomsmen at the reception!

No color exudes quite as much confidence as red! Of course, not everyone can pull it off, either. Maybe your groom wants to stand out, but not quite that much. Consider choosing a different shade of the same color his groomsmen are wearing. Are they in a pale blue? Choose a darker shade for him:

No matter what, his attire should always stand out from his groomsmen, but that doesn't mean he can't have fun with it!

Whether you got your wedding dress at Madeleine's Daughter or not, Soiree is a great place to go for the best in suits and tuxedos for any wedding. Don't forget to ask for Aleigh- the store manager. She can help you out! Call or email today to schedule your appointment!

Meet Our Bride: Kiele

Over and over again, we try to emphasize how enjoyable the process of finding your dream dress should be. A bride puts so much pressure on herself to find the perfect dress and to look perfect in it, but what she should really do is sit back and enjoy the process of wearing such an amazing dress at such a special time in her life. One your wedding day, you should look amazing, but you should also ENJOY the fact that you look amazing! You should be comfortable and happy- after all, isn't it the happiest day of your life? For Kiele, it was:

Kiele's story jsut makes us happy: “I shopped around for dress shops because I wanted an experience as opposed to just a shop. Of all, Madeleine’s Daughter had the biggest selection, most attentive and knowledgeable staff, and most comfortable atmosphere. From the very beginning, they made me feel special. Everything I had ripped out of magazines, they had, and everything I needed to tweak, was carefully considered and tailored. We had our own luxurious room to try on dresses and include my friends and family. The staff was gracious, excited and understanding about my personal preferences and ideals, as well as what a special time in my life this was. I loved my seamstress and knew I could trust her to make my dress fit me perfectly. And it did! On my wedding day, I not only felt beautiful, I felt comfortable and relaxed, which allowed me to enjoy every little bit of my day. Thank you, Madeleine’s Daughter for helping me find the perfect dress for me.”

Every bride should be "comfortable and relaxed" on her wedding day and able to "enjoy every little bit" of her day. Kiele, we couldn't say it any better!

Email us today to tell us about what your wedding day was like- we would love to hear about how wonderful it was!

Meet Our Bride: Anne

How many bridal shops did you visit and how many dresses did you try on before you found "the one?" Sometimes finding your dream dress early in the process can be so surprising that you find yourself walking away from it. No matter how many other shops you go to and how many other dresses you try on, you may find yourself still thinking about that dress you walked away from. And that's when you find yourself coming back to it, just like Anne did:

Here's her story: "'Something fun, a little funky, but classic'....is what I described to my bridal consultant Brandie at Madeleine's Daughter.  When I thought about it- it sounded like a pretty hard request- but I'm sure they have had more challenging ones.
"She brought out about 6 dresses- but there was one I saw that I knew I loved right away even before slipping it on.  Nonetheless I tried on all the dresses, and the first one I saw, was indeed 'the one.'  But Madeleine's was the first and only place I had been to, and I felt like I needed to check out another place or two with my mom- more for the experience and the bonding time.  As we left, Brandie confidently reassured me that I would be back for that dress. She was right. Two weeks later I came back, put it on once again- and indeed still loved it as much as the first time.  I just knew this was the one- I had found my dress!

"The bustle was no easy task to alter, but  they had a seamstress who was wonderful, and had personal connections to the area where we were getting married.  Each time I came to adjust and fix the how the dress was to be bustled we just chatted away.  The dress was finished 4 days before the big day- and it was the best and most special day of our lives.  Thank you so much for helping me find my wedding dress! I will always cherish it.....and all the beautiful memories that came with that day while I wore my beautiful white dress and married the love of my life!”

There is no doubt that she found "something fun, a little funky, but classic" in her dress and we couldn't be happier for her! What was your experience like shopping for your dress? Did you stop as soon as you found "the one" or did you keep looking, only to return to your original choice? Leave a comment below or send us an email to tell us all about it!

Meet Our Bride: Annmarie

At Madeleine's Daughter, our consultants are truly committed to every bride they see. Our consultants are there for whatever they need. If they are looking for the perfect bridesmaid dress, or if they need advice on tuxedo choices, our consultants can help. In fact, they are constantly emailing and calling our brides to make sure everything is perfect- the gown, the bridesmaid dresses, the mother's dresses, the tuxes, the flower girl dresses, the accessories, the alterations- everything! Not every bride finds everything she needs at our store, but some do, like Annmarie:

Annmarie found her dress and much more at Madeleine's. I'll let her tell the story:
“I got everything I wore that day from Madeleine's- my gown, veil, tiara and shoes! I loved all of it and felt like a princess on my wedding day. I found the service at Madeleine's to be very professional and accommodating. Each concern that I had regarding my dress purchases was always resolved in a way that made me feel comfortable. I also loved how I could visit my dress whenever I liked! I never felt pressured or pushed into making any purchases. I also loved the seamstresses that Madeleine's had to come in and alter my gown. The women that I worked with made sure everything was altered to perfection and even gave me her personal phone number and and told me she would come to my house the day of my wedding if anything went wrong with the gown! You can't beat that!  I would recommend going to Madeleine's to any bride who is looking to purchase a gown! Thanks for making my gown experience a pleasant one!”

At Madeleine's, our entire staff understands the importance of what we are doing. A wedding day is so incredibly special and we want to do everything in our power to make sure it is nothing short of perfect. We're committed right to the end. It's so wonderful to hear from brides like Annmarie who truly felt taken care of with us.

Leave a comment below or email us today to tell us about YOUR experience. And don't forget to send us pictures!

Juhree's Journal: Budget Woes? Not Here!

The economy has hit pretty much everyone really hard over the last few years and the wedding industry is no exception. Fortunately, we carry such a huge selection of dresses, there really is something here for everyone and every budget. This month, our store manager, Juhree talks about the many options available to the budget-conscious bride:

"We honestly have brides from all over New England and beyond and every bride is unique including her budget. No matter what price range the bride has to work with, we definitely have options for her.

"For example, while we don't carry many bridal gowns in stock that are less than $300, there are hundreds of bridesmaid dresses available for $300 or less in white, ivory and champagne that look absolutely gorgeous. The variety of materials is just as good- there are satins, chiffons, organzas, and taffetas. The silhouette variety is also just as numerous as our bridal selection- there are sheaths, mermaids, a-line and even ballgowns available. One really great option is this beautiful taffta gown by Jim Hjelm (in ivory, of course):

"Wearing a bridesmaid dress as your bridal gown is a great option if you are looking for something short or tea-length, too, so don't count that option out!

"For the bride looking to spend under $1,000, there are plenty of gorgeous bridal gowns available as well as plenty of our special occasion dresses that come in white, ivory and champagne. This beauty by Maggie Sottero is $999, but looks a lot more expensive:

"Lace is one detail that tends to push the price up and up and up, so to have such a beautiful gown for under $1,000 is remarkable!

"When it comes to a bigger budget, we certainly have an enormous variety, too since we carry designers such as Monique Lhuillier, Christos, Alvina Valenta, Lazaro, Eve of Milady,Ysa Mikino, etc. The sky is truly the limit when it comes to bridal gowns. If you can envision it, then we probably have it."

One of the things Juhree and our store owner, Elizabeth are careful to do is to have a variety of styles and prices available to our brides. No matter what your budget, we know there is something out there for you. Call today to schedule an appointment and we'll help you find your dream dress!

Meet Our Bride: Kirsty

Not everyone who purchases a dress at Madeleine's Daughter is from New Hampshire, or even New England. We have hundreds of brides from all over New England, but we also have lots of brides from other countries! Just last month, we had a bride flying in from Mexico for her fittings, and another from Ireland picking up her dress. Of course, coming from such a distance makes things a little more complicated, but we are always happy to do whatever we can to help a bride find and alter her dream dress.

Kirsty had to have her alterations done quickly due to the distance she'd traveled:

"At Madeleine’s Daughter, I felt as if I was the only one looking for a wedding dress. I needed alterations done quickly as I had come from overseas to pick up my dress. The staff was so friendly and accommodating, the alterations were done almost overnight!! It helped me out so much –  and the dress was of course spectacular. Thank you!"

Every bride is unique and so is her experience finding the dress. Alterations are also one-of-a-kind for every bride. While we have certain methods and practices in place for the way we do things, there are always exceptions to every rule. So, even though you may think that things have to be done a certain way, don't stress. Call us and let us know what your situation is- we are always willing to find a way to make the process work for YOU.

Did you have to travel a great distance to shop for your dress or to have it altered? Email us and tell us about it. And don't forget to send us pictures!

In addition, you can order it in the knee length pictured above or in floor length for a more formal look. This dress works for any body type for many reasons: the neckline works for a small or large-busted girls. In addition, the natural waistline and gathered skirt are flattering on all shapes and sizes and they hide a multitude of lumps and bumps. (Maybe even a small baby bump for your pregnant bridesmaid!) And at $155, it's a steal! It's one of the lowest priced dresses we have- yet another reason it qualifies as one of our "best."

BEST FORMAL BRIDESMAID DRESS: Noir by Lazaro Style #3188

Trying to find an elegant bridesmaid dress for a formal wedding isn't easy. You need to look for rich fabrics, great fit and a little embellishment to take it up a notch. This gorgeous fit and flair strapless gown from the Lazaro Noir line is perfect. The organza is so lush and the beadwork at the waist is simply stunning. At $313, it's one of the more expensive bridesmaid dresses we carry, but worth every penny. And since it comes with a chic bolero, it could even work as a mother-of-the-bride dress:

Not everyone wants to wear strapless, so for those we have our best non-strapless dress. This jersey dress by Amsale is not only elegant and incredibly chic and flattering, but it's also unbelievably comfortable. And did I mention it's pretty sexy with a gorgeous key-hole back:

If you love the dress, but prefer a solid color, don't worry- that option is available, too!

With all the options out there, we knew you would be thinking, "Just tell me the best dress, hands down." So here it is! We think this is the best silhouette, neckline, and price. It works for just about any season and just about any setting. This dress would look just as amazing at an outdoor ceremony in a park as it would in a formal setting like a beautiful cathedral.
