Juhree's Journal: 2012 Bridal Gown Trends

Welcome to the next installment of Juhree's Journal- a monthly series in our blog with our amazing store manager Juhree! Here's what she has to say this time:

This month, I'd like to talk about bridal gown trends that we will be seeing on dresses this year. As you know, last month I talked about our buying trips to New York and Chicago where we saw hundreds of bridal gowns from dozens of designers. There were three very distinct trends that stood out to us this year: cap sleeves, keyhole backs and cape-lets!

Strapless dresses have dominated the bridal gown market for years and years, but finally we're starting to see some different necklines and cap sleeves! We have had brides asking for cap sleeves for so long and we're thrilled to be able to have a variety of dresses with cap sleeves in our store for you to try on! A perfect example is this gorgeous beaded sheath- Willow by Jenny Packham:

Another great cap-sleeve design is this sheath by Allure:

Something amazing about this Allure dress is that is also features another popular trend this year- the keyhole back:

Isn't it stunning? I love that it's more of a teardrop keyhole shape- that's not something you see all the time! Another beautiful keyhole back dress we just recently got in is Bernadette by Maggie Sottero:

We had brides calling about this dress for months and I'm so excited to be able to have it in the store for them to try on!

Finally, the most unique trend we saw on so many different runways this year was cape-lets! Instead of a traditional bolero or jacket, tons of designers have been creating the most amazing cape-lets! One design we couldn't resist was this one by Alvina Valenta

You may or may not have noticed that all three of these trends all seem to have one other MAJOR 2012 trend in common: lace, lace and more lace! Lace is obviously a traditional bridal fabric, but this season it's everywhere! And the best part is that designers are using it in ways that actually make it look more modern.

The great thing about ALL of these trends is that none of them are purely "of-the-moment" fashion trends. They are all details that have a timeless appeal to them, while at the same time, they look very current and fashionable.

Which of these trends are you obsessed with? Leave a comment below and tell us!
