Accessorizing with Our Consultants!

The other day, a few of the bridal consultants got into a discussion about accessorizing- mostly how they are often impressed with how other consultants can accessorize a gown and a bride. It's true that even after years of working in the industry, they'll turn the corner in our store and be completely shocked and inspired by the accessories another consultant has pulled together for a dress. What began as a simple discussion about favorite accessories, turned into an afternoon of playing, "How would YOU accessorize this dress?"

We pulled a stunning gown by Monique Lhuillier- a beautiful lace sheath with a sexy front slit and lovely lace cap sleeves. One of our consultants volunteered to be our "bride" and the rest of the consultants jumped at the chance to accessorize her. Here's what they each came up with:

Kristin said, "I wanted a vintage feel with a little sparkle- something timeless." She nailed it- the dress itself can very easily go from modern to vintage, so careful selection of the accessories is important since that is what will truly determine the overall look. But the important thing to remember is that accessories don't have to break the bank- all of these accessories together totaled less than $600- not bad considering they are all custom made.

Shoes by Grace: $107
Earrings by Bling: $114
Bracelet by Toni Federici: $150
Veil by Toni Federici: $225
Total cost of accessories: $596

Cheryl's shared, "I pictured this bride as the epitome of country elegance." With the simple addition of a beaded belt, the dress is completely transformed. She opted not to put a veil with the look, but instead chose a simple flower in her bride's hair. The jewelry sparkled, but didn't overpower. Cheryl's look was a little pricier than Kristin's, adding up to just under $800 for everything.

Shoes by Liz Renee: $107
Belt by Essense of Australia: $449
Flower headpiece by En Vogue: $119
Earrings by Bling: $114
Total cost of accessories: $789

Brandie was interested in making sure everything worked together, "I wanted to balance the sexiness of the slit with the formality of the cathedral veil- sassy and romantic." Success! This high-end look is the perfect mix of sass and romance. At nearly $1,600, it was one of the more expensive looks of the afternoon, but worth every penny for the handmade heirloom-quality pieces.

Shoes by Liz Renee: $119
Earrings by Elizabeth Cole: $138
Headpiece by Maria Elena: $738
Veil by Toni Federici: $600
Total cost of accessories: $1,595

Meghan (who also happened to be our model) accessorized herself with the goal of "understated elegance- very feminine." Since her accessories were so simple, it really allowed the dress to be the focal point of the look. Again, the price for everything was around $700.

Shoes by Liz Renee: $99
Headpiece by Bling: $237
Earrings by Bling: $114
Bracelet by Maria Elena: $248
Total cost of accessories: $698

Sadie said, "I wanted a cutting edge couture look." This is certainly cutting-edge! It looks like our model walked right off the runway and into our store! The necklace and brand new veil are so modern and fashion-forward. This look was neither the most nor the least expensive, totaling around $700 for five accessories- impressive!

Shoes by Liz Renee: $112
Veil by Toni Federici: $270
Sash by Monique Lhuillier: $125
Earrings by La Sposa: $120
Necklace by La Sposa: $75
Total cost of accessories: $702

And finally, Kerry said, "I went for a regal, winter look. I pictured my bride with a European flair." Kerry's look was spot-on for a formal event in a Scottish castle, or so we thought. The jacket, necklace and headpiece are all strong statement pieces that completely transform the look of the dress. The collar on the jacket is almost Elizabethan, but in a modern way. At nearly $1,800, this was the most expensive look of the day, but consider that the price includes a custom-made jacket plus four other accessories!

Shoes by Filippa Scott: $190
Sash by Monique Lhuillier: $220
Necklace by Bling: $357 (includes a set of earrings)
Headpiece by Maria Elena: $825
Jacket (custom): $175
Total cost of accessories: $1,767

It's amazing how accessories can really transform the whole look of the dress. A simple belt adds emphasis to a tiny waistline, while statement earrings bring the focus up to the face. A veil can be flirty and funky or elegant and classic. And did you know that you should always order your accessories four to six months before the wedding? Nearly every accessory pictured above is made to order by the designer, so book your accessory appointment early to ensure all your pieces arrive in plenty of time for the big day!

How did you accessorize your wedding gown? Do you have pictures to share? We'd love to see what you wore, so feel free to email us with a photo or two as well as a little about your look.

Nicole Miller Trunk Show- January 20-22!

At Madeleine's Daughter, we carry around 30 bridal designers and have about 500 bridal gowns in our store, but since we always want to stay current and on-trend, we sometimes take on new designers. Nicole Miller is a bridal line that we recently started carrying and we are completely in love with the designs. Even more exciting is the fact that in just a few short weeks we'll be hosting a trunk show where we will be able to have even more of her line here in our store.

Nicole Miller's line is simple and sleek and we've had lots of brides inquiring about her dresses not only as their primary bridal gown, but also as a second dress option. Check out our post from last month about the second dress trend. Whether you're shopping for one dress or two, we're sure there's a Nicole Miller out there for you!

A trunk show is an excellent opportunity for you to see dresses we may not normally have in the store. Schedule an appointment for our Nicole Miller trunk show today and you'll be one step closer to finding your dream dress. (Or maybe your second dream dress!)

Something Blue...

Are you planning to follow the tradition of wearing something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue? We hear from our brides that the hardest thing can be incorporating something blue. The others are easy- after all, your dress is new and there's almost always a mother or grandmother who can lend you a veil or a headpiece or a piece of jewelry to be your something borrowed AND your something old. On the other side, though, something blue can be tricky. If it's not a color that fits into your bridal color scheme, it can be even more tricky. Fortunately, we have quite a few blue somethings in our store for you to choose from:

Pictured: pashmina, Hanky Panky's, earrings, bracelet, sash, custom monogram

Aside from the bouquet, all the items pictured above are available in our store and any one of them would be a perfect "something blue" to complete your bridal look:

- A blue pashmina will keep you warm on your wedding day
- Blue Hanky Panky's are SO comfortable, but they're also really pretty. The ones in our store even have a touch of sparkle to them with "bride" spelled out in delicate rhinestones.
- Sparkly blue earrings or a bold blue bracelet can add a touch of color to your look. Consider changing to a bolder pair of earrings for the reception if you're not comfortable wearing a statement piece for your walk down the aisle.
- Sashes are a great accessory for your bridal look because they can help define your silhouette. They can also help tie your look to your bridesmaids if your sash matches their dresses. Or, in this case, they can be your "something blue."
- If you have your alterations done here in our store, we'll be sure to make a custom monogram in blue to be sewn into the inside of your gown, however, even if you aren't having your alterations here, we can make one for you for a small fee.

Of course, these are only a few ideas- maybe you've got an idea or two for your "something blue." Leave a comment below if you've got one, or if you'd like to, you can tell us about what your "something blue" from your wedding day. We've even seen brides with blue shoes just like Carrie Bradshaw wore. You can also email us with photos from your big day- you know how much we love that!

Meet Our Bride: Stephanie

Shopping for a wedding gown can be an overwhelming experience because it's likely that you've never done it before. A wedding gown is so different from any other garment you will ever wear in your life, so working with a true bridal expert can really make or break the process for you. Over and over again, we hear brides who say, "I never thought it would be so easy!" We also meet a lot of brides who are surprised by their choice of gown! "I never thought my wedding gown would be like this!" It just goes to show that you have to be truly open-minded about your wedding gown. Our consultants listen carefully and pay attention to your reactions to each dress you put on and sometimes discover that what you think you want might not actually be what you really want.

Take Stephanie for example:

Stephanie writes, "Madeleine's Daughter was such a wonderful experience.  We had been to 5 other shops before coming to MD and with our great experience with the shop and personnel we ended up not only getting my Pronovias wedding gown from MD, but we also got our Bill Levkoff bridesmaid dresses and flower girl dresses from MD.  We were greeted by friendly faces and smiles from the moment we walked in the door.  We got our consultant’s undivided attention the entire time we were there.  I told our consultant what I was looking for in a wedding dress and was very skeptical they would be able to find "the dress."  She brought out a dress that had everything except the lace I was looking for, the dress looked too simple but the consultant insisted that I should try it on anyways.  After much convincing I put on the dress....lo and was "the dress."  The personnel working at MD know what they are doing and make the dress shopping experience fun and memory lasting.  They share in your excitement when you find your dress; it isn't just a job to them, it's something they love to do.  Thank you, Madeleine's Daughter for everything you did to make my wedding day everything I could have dreamed of."

Stephanie surprised herself by falling in love with a gown that had no lace on it and we couldn't be happier that she was so open to considering something different! As you can see, she looked beautiful on her wedding day. And she's also right that it's more than just a job to us- we love being a part of something incredibly special like a person's wedding day.

Are you a Madeleine's Daughter bride and you'd like to share your story with us? Email us with photos and little about your experience- we would love to hear from you!

Meet Our Bride: Amy

One of the comments we hear over and over and over again is, "I never thought it would be this easy!" Our brides are constantly surprised by how fun and easy the process of finding the perfect dress can be. We happen to think that when you're in such capable hands as our seasoned bridal consultants that it can't be anything but fun and easy! Falling in love with your wedding dress is just like falling in love with your fiance- you stop looking once you know you've found "the one."

Our bride Amy had a much easier time finding her dress than she ever imagined and see how amazing she looked:

Here's a little more about Amy's story:

"My experience at Madeleine's Daughter was absolutely perfect.  Not be very "girly", looking for my wedding dress was actually one part of my wedding I was not looking forward to.  Going to Madeleine's turned the entire experience into a great one though!  My consultant was very thoughtful and took my feelings into consideration and made sure I was comfortable the entire time.  She was very patient and allowed for a lot of thought to take place, which I appreciated very much.  Once we got rolling she knew exactly what kind of dress I needed and she made a process I was dreading, into one of the easiest wedding tasks I had throughout the whole process! I am very grateful to Madeleine's Daughter for making me one darn good looking bride!”

We agree that you are "one darn good looking bride!" And we were so happy to be a part of your day, Amy! Thanks for sending us the photo and telling us your story!

If you are a Madeleine's Daughter bride and you want to share your experience, please email us a photo and tell us all about it!

The Second Dress

Can't decide on which wedding dress you want to wear? Why not wear two? More and more brides are choosing to wear a completely different dress for the reception and we love this trend! It could be that she has her mom's wedding dress for the ceremony, but wants something more modern for the reception. Or it could be that the ceremony is very formal and traditional, but the reception is more of a casual party. Whatever the reason, we've got the "second dress" for you!

Our favorites are a little more flirty and fun and definitely short. This Jovani ruffle dress is so fun and funky! Pair it with an amazing pair of heels and super sparkly accessories:

If you're looking for something a little more sleek, why not wear this brand-new, super sexy Nicole Miller one-shoulder shift dress:

Of course, we also understand that the expense of having a second dress might not be manageable for everyone. In that case, consider a dress that's convertible! We have an amazing Martina Liana dress here in our store that is two separate pieces. Beneath the amazing silk ballgown skirt is a fitted sheath dress! (The jacket pictured is sold separately.) You're essentially getting two dresses for the price of one!

Another more economical "second dress" option is to consider purchasing a bridemaid dress in white or ivory. We loved this one by Bill Levkoff because it's got such a fabulous sparkly top:

It's pictured above with a silver bodice and ivory skirt, but the color combinations are a lot more varied. We've had a quite a few brides order this dress for their reception look.

We're huge fans of all of these "second dress" looks and if you are, too, then why not book an appointment to come in and try them on? You can book online or call us during our business hours.

Are you a Madeleine's Daughter bride who wore a second dress for your reception? We'd LOVE to see photos and hear all about why you made that choice. Send us an email with your story and some photos! Don't forget to check back soon for more exciting bridal trends and tips on how to look your best. In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions or comments about this post.

Shoesday Tuesday: Meg Sparkles

Not too long ago, our bride Meg came in to try on her dress. She had some family members with her and she was there to put together her bridal look. She picked out a gorgeous veil and some amazing earrings as well. She didn't need any help picking out her shoes, though. She'd already selected a stunning pair by Kate Spade:

P.S. Don't you love how her pedicure perfectly matches her shoes? We do!

If you read our blog at all, you know that bold shoes are one of our favorite things to see on a bride, so we couldn't resist asking Meg to let us photograph her shoes to share them with all of you. Thanks, Meg! We're looking forward to seeing your whole bridal look come together and sharing this experience with you!

Have you had an awesome experience at Madeleine's Daughter that you'd like to share? Leave a comment below or email us with your story and some pictures!

Meet Our Bride: Alyssa

We have brides of all walks of life- some are quiet and reserved, others are outgoing or even a little silly. We love that we have so much variety in personality with our brides. And no matter the personality, we have the dress to match it.

We love all the photos that our brides send to us, but we especially love when we can see the personality of the bride in the photos. Like this picture of our gorgeous (and super fun) bride Alyssa:

Alyssa also shared a little about her experience here:
"One of my bridesmaids referred me to Madeleine's Daughter - and I was the fifth bride she referred there. The minute I walked in, I realized why. The entire staff at Madeleine's was friendly and made me feel welcome and at ease. I tried on several gowns and found "the one" - a Monique L’Huillier Bliss gown- during my first visit.

The seamstress at Madeleine's Daughter was fantastic and I genuinely enjoyed my fitting appointments with her. I would highly recommend Madeleine's Daughter to New England brides and have already sent several friends there."

Are you a Madeleine's Daughter bride who would like to share her story and photos with us? Send us an email- we would LOVE to hear from you!

Lots of brides want to sparkle on their wedding day and what better way than to wear something covered in Bling? And we're not talking just any old rhinestone, we're talking about one of our favorite accessory designers: Bling! We're proud to say we're the only shop in all of New England that carries this particular designer and in just a few days we're having a trunk show featuring even more of their amazing designs.

Bling has just about every accessory you could possibly need to create your bridal look- headpieces, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, veils- you name it, they make it! On December 9th and 10th, we'll not only have oodles of Bling sample pieces here for you to try, we'll also have the designer behind Bling himself here to help create the perfect look for your wedding day. if you haven't yet booked an appointment for this amazing trunk show, call today and schedule it!

Above designs by Bling

If you're wondering why you should come in for a trunk show, the answer is simple: As I mentioned above, there are tons of extra samples that aren't always available in our store and an expert to work with one-on-one. Shopping for your bridal accessories should be just as fun as shopping for your wedding gown and having an expert there to help you makes the entire process stress-free. And if you find something you love, but it's not quite perfect, a trunk show is the perfect opportunity to look into having something custom made for your look.

If you aren't able to come in for this particular trunk show, you can still schedule an appointment to shop for accessories with your bridal consultant, another expert in helping to create your bridal look. When you book this type of appointment, we'll pull out your wedding gown, help you into it and then help you select the accessories that will most compliment it. Shopping for bridal accessories is different from shopping for any other type of accessories simply because wearing a bridal gown is so different from wearing any other type of garment. It's very hard to do unless you can see all of the pieces together, which is why we encourage you to schedule an accessories appointment once your gown comes in.

Are you a bride who wore Bling on her wedding day? Or are you planning to come in to our trunk show in a few days? Either way, we'd love to hear from you. Comment below or send us an email to tell us your story. Pictures are always welcome!

Shoesday Tuesday: Bella's Bridal Shoes

Here at Madeleine's, there are actually quite a few of us who are major Twilight fans. We love the story- the books, the movies- all of it. And since the most recent film featured the epic wedding of Edward and Bella, you know we were all at the movie theater opening weekend dying to see Bella's wedding look.

While the buzz all over the internet and in our store seems to be focused on the dress, we actually marveled at the shoes!

These shoes are pure fantasy and we love them! The gorgeous heels are by Manolo Blahnik (of course) and are a mere $1,295.00 at Neiman Marcus (pre-order). What do you think of them? Leave a comment and tell us! And whether they cost $12.95, $129.50 or $1,295.00, we want to see the shoes you wore on YOUR wedding day. Email us with some photos and tell us all about your big day!

Meet Our Bride: Kelly

As you know by now, one of our favorite things here at Madeleine's Daughter is hearing back from our brides after they've gotten married. We love nothing more than seeing photos from the big day- we keep them in photo albums around the store for everyone to see and are constantly updating them with new pictures. Whether it's a candid snapshot taken in the moment or a professional picture, we love them all. Every now and then we'll see a photo that takes our breath away. This is definitely one of those types of photos:

Kelly writes: "Wedding dress shopping should be the most exciting time while getting ready for your wedding; it's the day you dream about as a young girl, when you pick your DREAM dress. That is exactly how my experience was at Madeleine's Daughter. Going in I had such high expectations of what I would leave with, I wanted to feel the most beautiful I have ever felt in my life. The consultants at Madeleine's Daughter made me feel that beautiful. From the start of my appointment they made me feel comfortable, listened to what I wanted, and made suggestions off of that. The dress I chose was a dress that I would have never tried if I had looked at racks of dresses by myself, but my consultant knew it would look amazing on me. From my first appointment until the time that I picked up my freshly pressed gown before my wedding I never had a problem! I could never imagine a more magical (and stress free) experience. Thank you so much Madeleine's Daughter!”

We're so glad to have been a part of Kelly's experience getting married and it truly makes us happy to hear and see how beautiful she felt on her wedding day. And it doesn't stop there- Kelly's bridesmaid dresses came from our store, too and we loved seeing how great those looked, too!

If you're a Madeleine's Daughter bride and you'd like to share photos from YOUR big day, please email us with your story and some pictures!

Shoesday Tuesday: More Colorful Shoes!

We've gotten a lot of great feedback on the blog lately, especially the shoes posts. Thanks for your comments and emails- keep them coming! We love nothing more than hearing from our brides, mothers, bridesmaids, etc.

We recently received some awesome photos from our bride Stacia. She looked stunning on her wedding day in a ruffled a-line dress and Barbie pink shoes! We decided to make her our Shoesday Tuesday feature this week:

Stacia writes, "I should start by saying what an amazing experience I had at Madeleine's! I couldn't have asked for more in a bridal salon! Everything was perfect from start to finish...Thank you! I just saw your blog post from last week....all about the shoes! Mine were Barbie pink and I loved them so much! I had a second dress and when I changed from my long gown into the short one, everyone who missed them the first time around loved them too."

Thank you for writing and sending photos, Stacia! We were so happy to have been a part of your special day. Congratulations!

If you are a Madeleine's Daughter bride and would like to share your story with everyone, email us and send some photos along, too!

Meet Our Brides: Liz and Allie

Very often brides think that searching for the perfect wedding gown will be a long, painstaking process involving multiple trips to lots of different shops and trying on gown after gown. While sometimes this is true, the opposite is actually a lot more common (at least in our experience). Over and over again, we see brides find their dream dress amongst the first three that they try on in our store. And there are lots of times, too, when the very first dress we put on them is "the one!"

Today we'd like to share two of our brides who had that exact experience- Liz and Allie:

"I had a great experience finding my gown at Madeleine's Daughter. I explained what I wanted and was given several styles to try. The first dress I picked and tried on was the dress for me. My whole family loved it. I tried on a few more cause I wanted to be sure. I loved that I wasn't pressured into buying the dress right away when she found out my family liked it. She also didn't try and hurry me along. It was fantastic. I was worried that I was wasting time and I shouldn't ask to try something different. She was so sweet when I said I just want to try one more dress that was completely different and brought one in. That final dress definitely helped me confirm that the first one was the one. The dress was beautiful and had applique and we had them add beading on the flowers that matched the beading on on the buttons. It made it perfect and exactly what I wanted. I loved how patient she was and that I didn't feel rushed. It was just the kind of experience we were looking for." - Liz

"I had an amazing experience at Madeleine's Daughter.  My mom flew up for the weekend, so I wanted to find a dress while she was here.  Our consultant knew exactly what I was looking for within minutes of meeting me.  The day before I had gone to many shops and couldn't find my dress.  The first dress my consultant had me try on was the one I picked.  Throughout the entire process from trying on dresses to the fittings, the staff was very friendly and professional.  I would highly recommend other brides to go to Madeleine's Daughter because of the great experience I had.  The selection is the largest I've seen in the area, and the staff was great to work with." - Allie

What was it like finding your perfect wedding gown? Did you try on dozens or just a few? We love hearing your stories, so feel free to email us with photos as well! And be sure to check back soon to see more of our own brides in their amazing gowns.

What is up with bridal gown sample sizes?

Recently, we had a bride in our store who had some questions about our sample gowns. She was a plus size bride and she wondered why every dress was not available for her to try on in her specific size. We completely understand her confusion and so we would like to take the opportunity to discuss what types of samples we have in our store and why. So let's answer a few of the most commonly asked questions regarding our samples:

Why do you only carry the sample sizes 8-12 instead of having all sizes available for brides to try on? We usually only have one of each sample in our store. Occassionally, we will have an additional sample, often in a plus size. However, since we can only carry one sample, we choose the size that is most versatile. For example, a bride who is much larger or smaller than a size 10 can still try it on. For the size 0 bride, we use clips to pull it tight against her body. For a plus size bride, we use a combination of modesty panels and pins or clips to close the back of the gown, creating the "fitted" look she will ultimately have. In other words, it's not that we don't carry plus size, it's that we try to carry average size. It can be just as difficult for a size 2 bride to envision how she will look in her dress as it is for a size 20.

But still, you haven't answered my question! WHY don't you have every dress in a size 8-12 as well as a plus size? Here are three answers!
1.) Our store has the largest selection in New England and our bridal closet is seriously crowded! If we doubled the number of samples we carry, we would have no place to store them! It comes down to space. And even so, we have one of the largest selections of plus size samples available.
2.) Designers don't always give us a choice! Many of the lines we carry will only provide a sample in size 8, 10 or 12. And the ones that will let us order larger or plus size, we do! However, production schedules dramatically affect our ability to get other sizes, so even if we are able to order a different size, it may take up to 6 months longer than a standard sample.
3.) Supply and demand- it's basic economics. We carry the sample sizes that are most frequently ordered in our store. We cater to all sizes and shapes of brides, and are very adept at making all our brides feel comfortable regardless of the size dress they are trying on.

As a plus size bride, how can I feel confident ordering a dress that I've never tried on? Our consultants are experts not only in helping you find the dress that most suits your personality, but also in determining the one that will most flatter your body. Again, a bride who is a size 0 or 2 can struggle with fit just as much as a plus size bride. Even though our samples can be tried on by most brides, there are some exceptions. In that case, we have to show the bride how it will look using the "paper doll technique." While she may not have actually tried the dress on, using this technique, most brides will at least be able to get a sense of the proportion and silhouette as well as how the fabric and beadwork will appear against her skin.

Why does a plus-size dress cost more? The answer to this question is remarkably simple. A plus size dress uses more fabric and materials- beading, lace, etc. and therefore costs more. This is true for just about everything wedding-related! If you have 100 guests, your reception will cost less than if you have 150 guests. Your flower arrangements will be more expensive if you make them larger, than if you choose to carry a simple posy.

And perhaps the question we hear most frequently from ALL our brides:

Why do I have to order a size that is bigger than what I normally wear? Do you typically wear a size 8, but had to order a size 12? That is the case for nearly every bride. Very few designers have size charts that are true to size or comparable to ready-to-wear. However, since this is a pretty involved topic, we promise to dedicate an entire blog post to it in the future. Check back soon to find out the answers! But until then, please take a look at these photos of some amazing plus size gowns that are here in our store waiting for you to try on! And these are just a few that we have available!

Shoesday Tuesday: Our Favorite Bridal Shoes

When you consider how much thought and planning goes into selecting a bridal gown, you may be shocked to hear how little time some brides spend on the remaining "finishing" pieces, specifically shoes. It's absolutely imperative that you have your shoes no later than your first fitting, but don't wait until the last minute! We recommend booking an accessories appointment once your dress comes in, usually around 5 or 6 months prior to your wedding. Just like your initial bridal appointment, you will work one-on-one with your consultant to select all the pieces that will complete your bridal look. Not only will your consultant help determine the best earrings, veil, headpiece and undergarments, but she'll also help you figure out the best shoe choice for your dress, your personality and your personal style.

Some things to consider when selecting your wedding shoes:
1.) Heel height- select a heel height you will be comfortable in for a while. From the moment you put them on when you start to get dressed until you finally kick them off to cut a rug on the dance floor is actually several hours. Pictures beforehand, walking down the aisle, standing at the altar, pictures before the reception, your first dance, cutting the cake- you'll want to wear your shoes for all of these and that's a lot of time on your feet!

2.) Color- Lots of brides are choosing to wear a bold color- sometimes coordinating with the color of the bridesmaid dresses, or just choosing something funky and fun. Some brides like sparkle, others like to be traditional and go with ivory or white.

3.) Wedding venue- Are you getting married outside? On the beach? In a field? Maybe a wedge or a flat is a better choice for you so you don't sink into the ground.

Regardless of your preferences, we can help find the perfect wedding shoe- just call to book your accessories appointment once your dress comes in. And in the meantime, check out these shoes- they're our favorites in the store right now:

Cheri by Liz Rene
This amazing shoe has a cool asymmetrical bow and sling-back heel. The 1-inch platform makes these 4-inch heels feel more like 3 inches. Your feet will thank you for that extra inch.

Giselle by Liz Rene
For the bride who wants a delicate, vintage-looking shoe, Giselle is perfect. Everything about this shoe is elegant and feminine. At 3 1/2 inches, the heel is definitely for the girl who is accustomed to wearing heels, but they're worth it!

Melissa by Liz Rene
We love how the peep-toe on Melissa is so different. The asymetrical opening is really flattering on the d'Orsay pump. The tiny brooch-like embellishment is dainty and delicate and again lends a vintage feel to the shoes. At just 2 1/2 inches, these are ideal for the bride who wants to wear heels, but doesn't want to suffer.

All of the above shoes are made in luxurious silk satin that looks perfect with ivory, off white, diamond white and even pure white shoes. If you want to go with a funky color, consider taking them to a local cobbler and having them dyed. As a natural fiber, silk takes dye beautifully!

We hope you've enjoyed this week's Shoesday Tuesday post, but feel free to leave a comment and tell us what you think! We love hearing from you!

Our Favorite: New Dresses!

If you "like" Madeleine's Daughter on facebook, then you've probably already seen these pictures. They're some of the new gowns we've gotten in over the last couple of months and we're really excited about them! Trying on dresses is definitely one of the perks of the job and we all take advantage whenever possible. Sadie, however, is almost always a perfect sample size, so she's the lucky one who puts them on the most:

This Monique Lhullier gown from her Spring 2012 collection is truly unique- the fabric is a blush-toned silk jacquard. If you look closely enough, you'll see the subtle print in the fabric. There are a couple of things that make Monique Lhullier gowns so stunning- the first is the fit. Her dresses are impeccably cut and designed, but they are also made to flatter the body beautifully. The second is the fabric- her fabrics are so unique and have such depth to them that even the simplest design is breathtaking. Also, did I mention that her gowns are lined in silk? Can you tell we're fans of her design here at MD? Call us to make an appointment and try on some of these amazing gowns yourself!

Shoesday Tuesday: Color Me Pretty

We have a lot of very fashion-forward brides who come through our doors here at Madeleine's Daughter. Obviously, their great taste extends beyond just the dress to the amazing accessories as well. One trend we've really enjoyed seeing this year is all the colorful shoes our brides have chosen. From fucshia to kelly green, Converse to Louboutin, we've seen it all. A lot of our brides have chosen to use their shoes as their "something blue" and we love it! Today's Shoesday Tuesday post is dedicated to the bride whose shoe choice is bold and flirtatious. It's all about shades of pink, purple and red today:

Whether you walk down the aisle in a funky color, or choose to wear a bold shoe for the reception only, this is definitely a trend you should consider.

Are you a Madeleine's Daughter bride who wore an amazing pair of shoes and you'd like to share it with us? Email a photo and tell us all about it! And in the meantime, leave a comment to let us know your thoughts on this fun and funky trend!
