The first thing any bride needs to do before accessorizing is buy her bridal gown, the gown is the basis for choosing you accessories. Whether you match your gown or compliment it with what you choose ever bride needs to accessorize! So what type of accessories does a bride need?

Here is a complete list of what we feel every bride should have and could possibly need:

Must Haves:

  • Headpiece or Hairpins collage
  • Veil
  • Shoes
  • Bra
  • Petticoat or Slip

May need or want:

  • Necklace
  • Earrings
  • Purse
  • Bracelet

Some reasons we feel these items are necessary:

We feel that having a gown without a headpiece or veil is like a picture without a frame and shouldn’t be acceptable by any standards. These items can also lead the eye back up to the face.

The proper bra and petticoat give structural support and shape. The right bra will add lift and shape but also hold the gown to your body. The petticoat will add dimension to the skirt to help display any ornamentaion along the hemline. It will also keep the gown from getting between your legs as you walk.

Obviously shoes are a necessity, unless you are planning on having a wedding on the beach and have decided to go barefoot, even in that case a pair of adorable fllip flops would work. The shoes should be comfortable and something you are able to stand in for a long period of time.

As for the other accessories we have listed these are items that are just for embellishments, something to add a little pizazz and sparkle to your attire.

No matter which accessories a bride chooses she can’t go wrong, they only help to make the package complete!

Movie Star Quality

Have you ever said to “I want that Audrey Hepburn look” or “I wish I had the same look as Grace Kelly”? We have made it a little easier for you to look like you have that “Movie Star Quality” at least on your wedding day. We have listed some gowns that we feel have the sort of look and feel of some pretty amazing iconic movie actresses from over the years. Take a look and see what you think.

Audrey Hepburn

When thinking of Audrey Hepburn the words elegant, classic and sophisticated are what come to mind. We have chosen this beautiful gown from Lusan Mandongus that has that effortless look of beauty that Audrey always had.

Here are some ways you can achieve this look:

· The timeless boat neck style neckline of yester-year or more modern look of a strapless neckline that is straight across.

· A ruched waist line that appears to cinch the waist in making it look smaller

· A full skirt, ball gown style

· Shorter heels, nothing too high giving you that classic look

Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly always looked graceful and regal with an aristocratic air that was crisp and sophisticated. There is no denying this beautiful classic style! You can’t go wrong choosing a gown like the beautiful Essense of Australia gown below…you are sure to have every eye on you the second you walk through the door.

Here are some ways you can achieve this look:

· Go for a more tailored look with some lace for the added femininity

· Try going for a silk satin dress maybe with an ice blue trim of some kind, maybe a sash

· A full skirt, ball gown style with a long train or something soft and flowing with an A-Line skirt

· Heels that are in the mid range, not too high and not too low

Sophia Loren

What can we say…Sophia Loren knows how to make curvaceous and sexy an amazing style! Her curves work for her in a positive way giving her an even more exotic Mediterranean look. She has that timeless European style that is both beautiful and exotic without being overwhelming. If you want that timeless and exotic look, try going with a gown like the Essense of Australia we have chosen, if you do, on your wedding day you are sure to get some amazing compliments!

· Go for a Halter style instead of the traditional spaghetti straps

· Make the neckline a sweetheart neckline, plunging just enough to show some d├ęcolletage but not too much

· Try a Mermaid or Fit and Flare style rather than a fuller skirt to show off your curves

· High heels all the way…not quite stiletto, but if you are up to that more power too you

Doris Day

Doris Day always had that adorable “girl next door” feeling about her style. She always appeared youthful, fun and girly without going over the top and still managed to be elegant in her own right. If this is the sort of look you are going for we have some suggestions to help you get there, like this gown from Watters & Watters.

Here are some ways you can achieve this look:

· Strapless sweetheart neckline or a scoop neck style, something soft and feminine

· A sheath dress or and A-Line with or without ruffles

· A waistline that hits you at the natural part of your waist instead of empire or dropped

· Mid height on your heels, just enough to show your femininity

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue

As we all know this is a timeless tradition that has been passed down from bride to bride for generations, and will continue for generations to come. We did a little research ourselves to discover where this tradition came from. We discovered that it is based on an old English poem:

Something old, something new

Something borrowed, something blue

And a silver six pence in her shoe.

The idea behind this poem was that each item is a good luck token and that if a bride wears or carries them on her wedding day she will have a happy marriage.

Here are some of our suggestions:

Something Old

    • A family handkerchief
    • An antique lace wrapped around your bouquet
    • Tuck antique hat pins into your bouquet for added elegance
    • Carry a vintage compact mirror in your purse
    • Use your grandparents cake topper

Something New

    • Your GORGEOUS new wedding gown!
    • Brand new jewelry
    • The perfect pair of shoes
    • A sparkly tiara
    • A veil to finish the look

Something Borrowed

    • Your mother or grandmother’s pearl necklace
    • A beautiful pashmina from a dear friend
    • A classic car for wedding day transportation
    • Your sister or best friends favorite lipstick
    • Borrow a charm from a friend or family member and attach it to your bouquet

Something Blue

    • Wrap a blue silk ribbon around the handle of your bouquet
    • Wear a blue sash around your waist instead of a white one
    • Use a blues band at your reception
    • Wear a garter with blue on it
    • Wear a baby blue silk wedding gown

In the end no matter what you choose your wedding day will be a magical one!

Popular trends we see happening for the 2010 season!

Popular trends we see happening for the 2010 season!

  • Tiered and layered looks
  • Deep plums and vibrant oranges
  • Peep toed shoes
  • Drop earrings & Lariat necklaces
  • Flowered and Feathered Headpieces

Tiered and layered looks in either bridal or bridesmaid have been something we’ve been seeing as “the in” style for this 2010 season. One of our bridal consultants says that she feels this look lengthens the leg and can be an unexpected great look on anyone!

The HOT colors we’ve seen being ordered so far this year have been deep plums and purples and vibrant orange hues! We have decided you can’t go wrong in these choices because there are a variety of shades in those color choices! You should be able to find one for any season!

All we can say is PEEP toes! You know , that place where a small hint of toe with gorgeous nail polish peeps out on the front of a shoe, giving them that sort of “peek a boo” look! Subtle yet seductive, don’t you think? We do!

All brides need a gorgeous set of jewelry to add to her ensemble. Drop earrings and a sparkling crystal lariat necklace, and will do the job and work perfectly with almost any neckline. These pieces add a sparkling interest without overwhelming what is really important.

We think the most popular headpieces we’ve been seeing this season would be flowers and feathers and even a combination of both! They add a whimsical and fun element to any bride’s attire!
